When driving in fog, using low-beam headlights and reducing speed is essential for safety. Low-beam headlights are designed to illuminate the road directly in front of your vehicle without creating glare in the fog. High-beam headlights can reflect off the fog, creating a wall of light that can make visibility even worse, potentially leading to impaired vision.

Reducing speed is equally important because fog can severely limit your ability to see obstacles, pedestrians, and other vehicles. When the visibility is compromised, driving at a slower speed allows for better reaction time if something unexpected arises.

The other options do not promote safe driving practices. Using high-beam headlights would exacerbate visibility issues, while relying on emergency flashers and stopping may leave you vulnerable to being hit by other vehicles if they're not able to see you. Ignoring the visibility and driving normally risks accidents due to the unpredictable conditions presented by fog. These factors emphasize the value of the correct approach of using low-beam headlights and reducing speed when driving in foggy conditions.
